Up-To-Date HAVS Information

Some of the biggest HAVS news stories arise from HSE enforcement action and prosecutions relating to failures to manage the risks associated with vibration exposure under the Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005.

The Regulations require employers to assess the risks associated with vibration exposure and take appropriate action to control those risks. Employers must also provide employees with information, instruction and training about vibration-related health risks and the measures being taken to manage them. Suitable health surveillance is also required where employees are identified as being at risk from vibration exposure.

The HSE can take enforcement action, this can include prosecution for companies that do not operate within these regulations. If convicted, companies will be liable for fines, legal costs and compensation claims.
